...Our Accomplishments
We are very proud of our 5th graders for all they have accomplished this year as active community service workers! In December We granted holiday wishes for the children in foster care through the Bergen Volunteer Center and it's All Wrapped Up for the Holidays program. We collected and wrapped gifts designated for 6 children and we got everything on the list! Thank you to the 5th grade families for supporting this program. Additionally, Debbie Emory from the Bergen Volunteer Center visited the 5th graders and talked about working with kids in foster care and the importance of giving back. She commended our kids for their initiative and encouraged them to keep up the good work!
In November We collected and sorted over 20 boxes of food for Ridgewood Social Services, a food bank in Ridgewood that serves 331 clients in Ridgewood, Midland Park, HoHoKus, Waldwick, Wyckoff, and yes Glen Rock too. The Hamilton Cub Scouts sorted additional food collected at their annual food drive and combined it with our already sorted items. The 5th graders delivered these items in time for families to have a full Thanksgiving meal! Thirteen of our 5th graders participated in the BIG SWEEP and cleaned up the yard of a neighboring family. Thank you to all those students who pitched in to help! It was quite a chore but with teamwork they cleared the lawn, both front and back, in less than 2 hours!!! Way to go team!!!
