What is That? . . .

Perhaps you have asked this question upon hearing the announcement of a particular HSA event.   Please take a moment to review “A Guide to Hamilton Elementary School Home School Association Programming”.  This guide gives an explanation of the events and fundraisers sponsored by the Hamilton HSA.

S.E.P.A.C.

The Special Education Parent Advisory Council of Glen Rock (SEPAC) is a district wide organization created by parents to support the emotional, social and academic well being of children with special needs. We provide information, educational opportunities, resources, and support to families and professionals striving to achieve the maximum benefit for all children in our community.

What is the "Federated HSA"?

The Federated Board is made up of representatives from the HSA boards of all the schools in town - elementary, middle, and high school.  The Federated meetings are attended by representatives from the administration (school principals, usually), the HSAs, the Board of Education, the Glen Rock Education Association, and the superintendent.  Best of all, the meetings are open to everyone.  Watch for them on the calendar; they are a great way to stay informed and provide a chance to ask questions.  If you have trouble getting to the Board of Ed. meetings, this is another way to hear about what's going on with your school system.

What is the "HSA"?

The purpose of the HSA is to raise money to help enrich the learning experience for our children.  Funds raised by the HSA are used to purchase items for the school that are outside the school’s budget such as books for the classrooms,  technology, playground equipment, special assemblies, and far more. During the 2010/11 school year, the HSA was pleased to purchase the following for its students and faculty:

● Outdoor Classroom paver floor

● portable sound system

● speaker stands

● library mural, rugs, magazine racks   and books

● music room risers, cabinet, stands and supplies

● art room shelving, drying rack, safety mat and supplies

● stage sound board and microphones

● stage padding

      ● camcorder for Hamilton Newscast

● folding tables

● monthly water delivery

● two microwaves

The HSA organization is comprised of board members, parents/HSA members and the school principal.  The Board is elected by members of the HSA and may hold a position for two years.

The Hamilton HSA holds monthly meetings, alternating between morning and evening times to accommodate differing family schedules.   If you want to be "in the loop," please come to your HSA's next meeting.
